Tsubasa Shunraiki OAD 2! the last part of this series though I'm betting they might do another OAD to finish it off. This episode continues the mediocre production of the first, but they did attempt to make the Syaoran x Syaoran fight interesting. I laughed when Sakura tried to lift Syaoran's head onto her lap...oomph, your head is too heavy. I also laughed at the flirty small talk about 'significant' others. I have a better appreciation for Kendappa x Souma after reading about their fate in RG Veda. Kendappa was pretty amusing in the manga. The oops-we-killed-Sakura-uh-not-really part was appropriately sad, but eh, the whole production was poor, so the impact wasn't as interesting as it should have been. I also laughed when Syaoran fell and nobody attempted to catch him. ~7/10 rating~ for this series. I'm sure xxxHolic's part 2 will be better next month. It got the better production team of the 2 series.

Ikigami jmovie! stars Matsuda Shota...but barely (most of the focus is on the other actors). This put me to sleep, but I'll write about the interesting part, the premise. Because there are so many apathetic Japanese people, the government created the Special Law for the Maintenance of National Prosperity. Random kids are injected with a capsule that will kill them when they hit 18-25 years of age. This creates a fear and feeling of wanting to live life as best as they can; thus, the increase of prosperity in the country. Matsuda Shota plays a gov't employee who delivers ikigami, the notice of death, to individuals who will have 24 hours to live. The manga series explores what people do if they know they have 1 day to live. The gov't gives them leeway to do what they want, as long as they don't commit a crime. The movie centers on 3 people and the people around them. The writing was dull, production bland, acting predictable, so it's not recommended. ~5/10 rating~ The manga might be something to look into.

Tsubasa Shunraiki 1! I don't quite remember the loss of his arm being so humorous. There were a few nice visuals in this, but only visuals that don't involve putting eyes and chins in the correct places. Man, the characters were so badly drawn. Basically, this covers Syaoran's confrontation with Seishirou, and Fay being annoyed at his boyfriend's sacrifice. Um, right, there were quickie fanservicey references to Celes, so if you haven't read the manga, again, the OAD would make very little sense; for reference, an interesting piece of chapter 165 and up to 174 is what this episode covers (most of Volume 22). It probably helps if you read xxxHolic, too.

Tsubasa Chronicle S2 40! is the first and last episode of Kurogane's all-too-predictable background story. I skipped last 2 episodes for fear of tainting my impression of the series as a whole. Bee Train saved up some time and money to make this episode not-so-bad. Like in the first season when they made the Seishirou story look like a real action series. As for Kurogane's background story, his ma and pa were killed by grizzly bears and in a fit of grief and rage, Kuro kills the whole town...or something like that. The slicing of his hand by Tomoyo was cut from the anime. Why? hell if I know. There was also a bout of bad Zorro background music in this episode. Beneath all my cynicism, I did enjoy it...even if that pretty scene with Kurogane and Tomoyo was omitted.

Nana 19! Ren and Nana make up and 'play' around...since babies aren't supposed to show until the last ten episodes or so. It wasn't that hot since naked, these characters look very chopstick thin and awkward. Hachi's thoughts about Yasu were amusing, as was the smoking bit with Shin. This episode covered the last bit of the live-action movie as Hachi meets Takumi for the first time. There was a new ending song, Starless Night, by Olivia insp. Reira. ann.com reports that Olivia will also do the opening from 23 on. I'm not into Olivia's music that much, so I hope Anna returns and does another Nana/Blackstone song. Rumorwise- read that the actress who played Hachi-Nana in the first movie didn't want to do the smut parts in the second, so will not be returning. Sounds like a bad career move on her part considering how popular the first was. Also, everyone wants L'arc~en~Ciel to do the theme song for the 2nd movie. so do I! even if a male-led band has nothing to do with Nana.

Sapuri 2! This is a pretty enjoyable series. Like all jdrama, they really emphasize how one character represents one type of working ideal while another represents a conflicting type. Fujii is the honest, by-the-book employee while 'Ogi-sama' is the manipulative..but covertly sensitive type...(but he kinda looks like he's faking it) employee. Yuya is the newbie who tries to get recognized...and will no doubt encounter evil temptations. This also has a age-gap theme as Kimi wa Petto did and it would be very weird if Fujii and Yuya end up together. I'm guessing the series will be one of those 'how our meeting influences our lives' type shows.

Ouran Koukou Host Club 15! takes place during a summer break. Tamaki and gang hunts Haruhi down as she is doing part-time work at a pensione run by a transvestite friend of her father's. The host club vie to get the last room available. The twins are the focus in this two-part story. I enjoy the twins' interaction with Tamaki, Haruhi, between themselves and the development of their personalities. They seems too be the most interesting characters so far. This part ends with the host club meeting a friend from Haruhi's past.

Tsubasa Chronicle S2 11! was a cute chibi episode. Bee Train didn't take advantage of all the comedic potential as the Prince of Tennis chibi fillers did, but it was a cute episode nonetheless. The next fillers look as lame as can be.

other mentionables--

NHK no Youkoso! opening song, Puzzle, by Round Table feat. Nino is another one of their fun, listenable songs. The anime looks nicely made but storywise, not as interesting.

Fruits Basket is at the next to the last chapter. Chapter 130 *spoilers* has Kyou finally free of the curse which sets off a chain reaction to the rest being free. I think each jyuunishi had to reject 'god' to free themselves...or in a way accept 'god' as human...this was assuming Akito was a god-like representation. That interpretation kinda got lost when he became a girl. Aaand the last page of the chapter links god to a faceless looong haired bishie. I'd hate to think that they were freed because they found 'love,' but that is to what the translations seem to refer. Then again, rejecting Akito/pseudo-god's kind of love and finding it elsewhere is an interesting concept.
Oguri Shun!!!! is Shinichi!!!!!

Kudo Shinichi no Chousen(?) is the official name of the Detective Conan live-action drama...probably because it is about him before he became the chibi-kid detective. I've only watched a couple episodes of the anime...and the commercial for the dub, but I will definitely watch this drama.

eta..for later.
Monday animay.
Honey and Clover S2 3!!! focuses on Nomiya and Yamada. Wondering if anyone is not watching this show. The episode made me laugh all the way through. Highlights include the unicorn gang who protect Yamada's virtue and Nomiya's Charlie Brown expressions. +++

Nana 14! hm...they(Hachi-Nana and Shoji) breakup. Does that mean we won't see Shoji and Sachiko ever again? please?

Tsubasa Chronicle S2 10! was the end of the Ashura/Yasha snuggle snuggle story. I'm glad Bee-Train takes a slightly interesting story and makes it boring...cause how else would I know which directors were bad.

xxxHOLiC 14! hmm..was it sad that the 2 second scene from Yumegari was more interesting than the whole episode? Part one of the twin story had some odd wonky character scale sizing again. Sometimes Yuuko looks like a big football player next to Watanuki...and her boobs always look very odd. The new ending is cute. Buck-Tick always composes interesting gothic rock. Their lyrics are also interesting to read. Here is a tv performance of 'Dress,' the opening to Trinity Blood. Enjoy the plastic-wrapped pillars.
caught up! (beware of a long post and spoilers)

Chevalier D'Eon 1! ++ was apparently an early showing of this show. Excellent production, some unique action shots, a variety of nice cgi settings in Europe, nice and fitting character design and interesting premise makes this show worth trying out. Very nice visual details stand out in this episode. I started thinking this would be a strict historical anime like Emma was, but as the episode went along, I was a little disappointed that things pointed to the fantasy-horror genre in a historical setting. It looks as if they'll follow history, but it seems the 'spirit' of D'Eon's sister accounts for his feminine side. There are also vampires...which I don't understand the need for when they've got an interesting history to derive action from. I'll do a follow-up review when subs are out and the series officially starts (in August).

xxxHOLiC 13! The fallen angel spirit is to blame when quiet girls turn into insane ones. There was a little bit of 'plot' reveals as Maru & Moro are explained and the pipefox's true form is revealed....It's almost like Yue/Keroberos without souls and true voices. Watanuki is still a great character...but he'd be annoying if he were a girl. I also still wish for a higher quality video source...better to watch pipefox chomp on the wings. *chomp*

Mushishi 22! These extra episodes seem to put Ginko in a little more danger. Ginko's narration as he was drowning was sorta amusing. And the what-if you could be endlessly reborn scenario was interesting.

The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi 14! +++ the end was as most ppl thought, conventional. It was a slight disappointment, but hardly a surprise since the previous episodes/later sequences alluded to Haruhi 'liking' Kyon. I still enjoyed the series and would recommend it to anyone who wanted a funny, unique, excellently produced moe-ish anime. It was interesting that each character was an anime cliche, but the director made the story one of the best of its kind. I attribute its success to Kyon. ♥

Coyote Ragtime Show 1! is another space cowboy anime. Well animated but pretty dull so far. If you've already seen Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star, this is nothing unique.

Listening to~
Miyavi's new single, Kimi ni Negai wo. ++ Another progression in his music and I like it. PV can be found here. Playing in pjs = fun. Bright blue contacts = huh?

Tommy Heavenly6's Pray. Fun PV, cute song. Not sure if I'm a fan, but she's fun to watch and her music is addictive.

Mr. Children's Houkiboshi. Sakurai always conveys emotion...usually some sort of trying-to-convince-you of love/sadness/happiness. Another uplifting song. here's a tv performance.

Cloth Road volume 3! picked it up at Kinokuniya on my trip. Those Clamp anime guides looked a bit lame so skipped outta that. The mangaka, Okama, of Cloth Road has a nice website which had tons of artwork...but has cut some out. (again, that's what happens when you get bigger). The manga is basically about seamstresses and clothing made to fight.

Naruto...that was a very sappy moment when Naruto thought about how he missed Kakashi. The rumors of his demise were greatly exaggerated.

Tsubasa RC...darn Syaoran, I wanted to chew on Fay's face first.

The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi 13! explains everything...right. This takes place after the homicide attempt on Kyon's life. Haruhi reveals the moment when she felt insignificant. It's a bit selfish, but hey, it's fiction. Then Koizumi takes Kyon for a ride and demonstrates his power to him while explaining his and the others' purpose. I totally enjoy Kyon's laidback you're full o' bullshit attitude during the whole series. Ah...if only the world bent to my will, too. This might be a good series to rewatch in the actual chronological order. There's only one left...*sniff sniff*

Tsubasa Chronicle S2 9! was actually pretty good. It conveyed the angst without much explanation. The next episode has the actual background story and is the end of that storyline...sounds like fillers are next. I guess it helps that I've read most of RGVeda and the characters have more history to me...but this particular part of the series was done well enough for an outside viewer. Yaoi love is a universal thing that transcends time and space...ya?

here's my fav RGVeda moment...

started off feeling extraordinarily crappy, but a few green pills and anime makes it all better.

Jyu-Oh-Sei 10! Can't argue with the crowd. Thor wearing Macguyver clothes and a ponytail is 'hawt'. Third kinda lost points for not being as hot as a blond as he was as a brunette. All is explained in this episode (which means the conclusion is next...*weep weep*).

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi 12! was a surprisingly mellow episode. The timeline goes back to the school festival where the episode one movie is being shown. Kyon and his friends wander around. Everyone eventually ends up the the auditorium where various musical acts are on stage. The group, EZON, takes the stage with Haruhi and Nagato as temporary members. Haruhi's niceness was weird until Kyon expains it. The songs were kinda surprising, too. ++ good episode.

Mushishi 26! the end. Watched this raw so this'll be a brief summary. It's a sweet piece which takes place in the past (young-Ginko!) and then moves to the present. Knowledge is power...ya.
mmmmm...

Ouran Koukou Host Club 11!'s premise was just a tad contrived, but it made for good laughs. Nekozawa's little sister is afraid of the dark while he is afraid of the light. The host club is determined to get them together. I, too, swoon at the prince-liness.

Tsubasa Chronicle S2 8! Glad they tried to keep Ashura's gender ambiguous...now that seiyuu is awfully familiar...eh...Romi Paku? tons of ♥'s for whoever it was. The episode was ok; better than usual...which means that there were only a few times their faces were squished oddly. I wish the action scenes were more exciting...and as bland as CLAMP's actual text is, it is equally bland on screen. Even with some quality seiyuu, the characters aren't really as alive as they could be if they had some more dialogue. I do enjoy the Ashura and Yasha angst...even if it is totally based on the lack of smut between the two...poor guys.)
is ok, but is the rhubarb supposed to be sour? maybe tangy is the official term.

xxxHOLiC 10! was successful in being slightly creepy. This show continues to be kinda boring due to not-quite-there directing and not-quite-there visuals. I don't think it'd attract a large crowd outside the CLAMP fandom.

Tsubasa Chronicle S2 6-7! Episode 6 was WTF. Fay and Chii go on a date. Chii's seiyuu tried too hard. I'm sure someone somewhere liked that episode. Episode 7 was better. If the production team could make every episode this nice, I'm sure my cringing would cease. Karen looked especially pretty. The choice in color palette for everything else was like a kid deciding he needs to use every Crayola color available.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi 10! A very good episode which features a classmate who tries to kill Kyon in order to get a reaction out of Haruhi. Nice action follows. ++
Tsubasa Chronicle S2 5! Syaoran and all land at sea. Chibi-Fujitaka is there. It turned out to be an odd episode with bad music, but Fujitaka is cute. Chii, Touya and Yukito are in the next episode.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Nana 8! Yasu is a nice character. They should show more of him. Nanas go shopping. Hachi is born. The episode was somewhat cute, but a tad boring. Will the singing parts come in soon?
