I guess holiday driving means 'drive really fast and get caught by police speedtraps or flip your car over and cause massive tie-ups on the highway.'

Caught up on some fantastic turning-point episodes. Much blabbing ahead...
Rolo is the butler in the coat closet, A girl in boxers, Catgirl & finished one more )
Toshokan Sensou 10-11! Apparently watching episodes out of order during a climactic part of the story can cause confusion. So going back, the butch-like woman did look awfully suspicious. In these episodes the Library Corp and Media Enforcement battle over artwork. For such an absurd series, there's plenty of bloodshed. It doesn't seem like a mockery of 'war' nor does it really completely convince me of its seriousness. *oh, the dilemma*

Allison & Lillia 10-11! While traveling on the train, Allison and Wil witness a murder of sorts. This leads to some odd action on the train where they are not sure who the 'bad' guys are.

Vampire Knight 12! The fight between Zero and Ichirou looked ridiculous due to low quality animation, and Yuuki's sad face looked like stupid fanart. Maybe if they sell enough DVDs, the 2nd season won't be so ugly. One more episode left this season. Out of everything I'm viewing this season, this anime seems to have the worst-looking animation. Junjo Romantica and Allison & Lillia also have cheap animation, but they hide it better.

Nabari no Ou 12! Though I'm into it for the not-so-subtle boy-love ninja story, Yoite and Miharu have yet to convince me of their undying/dying love. In this episode Miharu joins the other side. Yoite angsts some more. They go shopping. Raikou's pink hair isn't the only very bad fashion choice he has made.
Blurbs today...

Toshokan Sensou 9! Another silly episode as Iku tries to deal with the fact that Doujou is her Prince Charming.

Soul Eater 10! A Black Star and Tsubaki arc. Not my favorite couple, but entertaining enough.

Vampire Knight 10! Twincest...that's what I've been missing this season.

Who Are You? 11-12! That was the best non-love-confession ever. It eventually leads to a real one, a real sappy one. And Young-In, Seung-Hyo and the ex all find the paintings just as the bad guys do. Still not jiving with the fact that Young-In fell in love with Seung-Hyo mostly because of his personality when her father is possessing Seung-Hyo's body.

Junjou Romantica 9! was too adorable. Usagi even made Hiroki's mother a fangirl. On the downside, there were some weird moments in animation when Hiroki's face looked a fairly awful. I think this was the first episode without any groping of male body parts; glomping--yes, kissing--yes, but nothing else...which is probably the best for characters at that age...ha. Next week is the Terrorist couple's turn. Yay.

Macross F 10! Oh the fanservice! *spoilers* Firstly, we get to see where Princess Alto came from. *pretty* Secondly, who does he kiss? Both girls. And finally, we learn the Harmonica-boy's name which is Brera. I only saw the first Macross Zero episode, so the crossover flew by me. In the original Macross the hero married the blandest girl on the show and not Minmay, right? So it's tough to predict which girl Alto will end up with. Similarly to Junjou, the 2D animation had some nice shots and angles that were badly drawn. I'm guessing they'll fix it up for the DVDs.

Listened to the Macross F OST, and the cinematic feel is so high that some tracks sound too much like John Williams. Yoko Kanno still has her edge with the orchestra, but that Pirate of the Caribbean track sounded like a rip. On second thought, it is probably a tribute since the track is called 'Big Boys.' When it comes to the vocal tracks, I'm not really a fan of May'n(Sheryl) or Nakahima Megumi's(Ranka) voices, and probably wouldn't be able to stand a full album by either one of them without Yoko Kanno writing their songs. She writes interesting songs. I think I like the duet version of 'What about my Star' the best. I look forward to all the other CDs this show will release...all 50 or so of them. But seriously, I like the abundance of quality music in this tv series.

Allison & Lillia 9! the pace that this show moves at is unreal. Another few months have past and Wil meets Allison, Fi and Benedict on a new transcontinental train for a vacation. Wil's obliviousness is refreshing.

Toshokan Sensou 8! Sorta lost interesting in the whole political part of this show, but it was cute when Doujou tried to pat Iku on the head, but couldn't reach. A bit predictable but *spoilers* ha, she finds out he is the Prince Charming she was admiring back in the first episode.

Nabari no Ou 8! makes me appreciate simple ninja action and straight-forward storytelling. When the Raimei are around the name 'Thobari-sensei' is used most often, but I guess I will use 'Kumohira' now, since it is what everyone else in the show uses. In this episode, Kumohira and the others go forward with their plan to kill Mr Frosty. There's a little bit of fighting with Yoite and Yukimi, and a little of Kumohira's relationship to Miharu is revealed. Surprisingly, Kouichi proves that he actually has some useful ninja skills...including a pseudo-Geass. Good episode.

Toshokan Sensou 7! Ok, despite the terribly silly circumstances this show puts itself through, it is enjoyable. Shibasaki, Iku's roommate, is being woed by someone who wants to corrupt the integrity of the library corps. Iku is set up as an accomplice.

Macross F 7! I like this fictional future where you go to the concert and see the singer naked. Is Sheryl based on Jem? The pink hair and hologramed clothing make me think yes. The absurdity of some of the details in this episode is overwhelmed by the excellence of the concert and fighting. Man, they are a trigger-happy group. Anyway, looks like the Vajra want to assimilate the other races a la Borg? Spandex boy from the opening song also shows up in this episode to save Alto's ass. He plays the harmonica...hahaha. Surprisingly, nobody of any consequence dies in this episode. I'm still betting Ranka's brother kicks the bucket or becomes a Borg before the series is done. Anyway, this episode ate the show's budget and they had to get fanartists to draw the next episode.

Toshokan Sensou 6! Cutesy episode as Iku and Tomaki (who is voiced by Ishida Akira) have 'gossip about Doujo time' while being chased by the Media army.
Was out-of-town for a little bit and just did a few morning and evening boinks into the communities, but back now to catch up on...

Photobucket
Junjou Romantica 5! American gay cowboys kidnapped Nowaki for a year, and without letting him write home, Hiroki had no idea where his lover was. Nowaki is able to beat the cowboys off with a stick and comes home to Hiroki who is understandably pissed and horny. Nowaki, being the word-smith that he is, leaves Hiroki a very badly written note the morning after. Hiroki after much emo-time, leaves Nowaki a note, too. The writers apparently knowing that too much emo make yaoi fans cry, made the omake really cute this week.

Code Geass R2 6! Maybe it was the video file, but man, the downgrade in animation was really obvious this week. Maybe it's the episode 6 blahs settling in. Episode 6 of Macross F was pretty bad, too. As for content, this is a good episode as Lelouch tries to rescue Nunnally, but no matter how much the mech upgrade, the Code Geass mechs are ugly in design. Gundams and Macross's Valkyries are more pleasing to look at.

Toshokan Sensou 6! The parent visit was a full episode of comedy. Cute!
Photobucket
Soul Eater 5! Never get tired of the sadistic-professor character. Professor Stein tests the kids. Another fun episode which keeps me wanting more.

Photobucket
Macross F 6! Can't say I was ever impressed by furniture before, but those interactive cafe tables were kinda cute! Was that fake Pirates of the Caribbean music playing halfway through the episode? eh? Even though it was a pretty good episode, the downgrade in the 2-d animation was bad.

Photobucket
xxxHolic Kei 6! ♥ Watanuki basically runs around like a crack-smoking monkey trying to learn mahjong. There are a bunch of crossovers(Mikune?) that I'm not very familiar with, and I'm guessing this would be more entertaining if one actually knew something about mahjong...good luck to the translators. Btw, the widescreen version of this show really makes the show visually better..so rewatch it or wait and watch it.

Toshokan Sensou 4! So they can't shoot outside library territory and to remedy that, they buy up the area in conflict. Okaaaay. The cute parts are cute, but the serious parts are somewhat on the corny, plot-holey side. Still, it's only going to be 11 episodes. How will the library war end? They probably scan everything onto the internet.
Photobucket

Toshokan Sensou 2-3! The Media Improvement army attacks the library to steal some books. Oh noes...the Library Task force gets into gear. There are guns involved. Is this some sort of response to all the mech/war anime out? It borders on ironic seriousness, but the cute parts are funny...and the army guys are handsome. Not sure if I'm supposed to laugh at the 'serious' parts. In episode 3 Doujo assigns Iku a mission by herself. Funny way to show that you care, first treat them harshly, because they show skill and then keep them away from real action. Anyway, trouble finds her. dum dum dum...

Toshokan Sensou 1!..Library War?

+ Excellent PIG production
+ Distinct and fun characters
+ Interesting plot
- Bland op/ed

Quick summary ~ In some alternative future, there is a media improvement act which enforces restrictions on what kind of books are allowed out there. The military that enforces this takes books away from little kids..boo hoo. At the same time a library freedom act was passed to protect books in libraries. Absurd? hell yeah...well, maybe not in China. This series follows a young library military recruit as she tries to protect books. Iku is a young, feisty, athletic girl. Doujou, a short guy, is her commanding officer. They don't like each other, but after this episode have mutual respect for one another

Quick impression ~ Wasn't going to watch this, but I am easily swayed by a couple good nods. I like the SD moments and the plain odd story setup. The verbal sparring was cute.

Photobucket

SD Sennou Chousashitsu 1! A little too much underwater sci-fi for me. Nice animation, but bland character design, meh female butt shots & a plot that I cannot follow all means...no more please.
