There's a trailer out for the Hwang Jiny movie. Although the kdrama was pretty, it had its tedious moments. Looks like the movie livens up the story with some battles.

Drama recs of lengthy proportions...

Hwangjiny 21-24! the end. I think many people would be disappointed by the ending of this series. I found it a little rushed and disjointed as far as Jiny's relationship with men was concerned. The writers seemed to decide that focusing on the gisaeng arts was how to conclude this series. From that perspective, it was a good conclusion and I liked it.

I always underestimate how slow I can be. I guess creating random projects for myself is a bad idea before Christmas.

Hwangjiny 16-20! Very creative and unexpected plot twists during this time period. *many spoilers ahead...but I doubt that many ppl on my f-list are watching this, but but I will keep pimping it.♥* Important points to these episodes include, Jiny perfecting the crane dance much to Baek Moo's chagrin, the rich, but stupid guy tries again to 'have' Jiny only to be challenged by her and losing again(I think they were playing strip poker..muwha haha), his anger this time sets off Baek Moo, she gets arrested for defying him. Baek Moo commits suicide via cheap and disappointing SFX. Her death sets the end of the 2nd part of Jiny's life. Jiny deteriorates without her mentor and then Kim Jae WonJung Han saves her and takes her away. Another 3(?) years pass and people are still looking for them. There's the ongoing idea that Jiny cannot live without the arts and love (usually) gets in the way...or is manipulated to get in the way. I didn't really get how the bodyguard plays into this, but am looking forward to how they will end this series. 4 more episodes left. Psst, she has a bun in the oven.

Fly Daddy (kmovie) is a remake of the Japanese movie, Fly Daddy Fly. After that overdose on almost all of Lee Jun Ki's works months back, little did I expect his new movie would be running around on the internet so soon.

Hwangjiny 13-14! I began rewatching the first few episodes with subtitles. The gisaeng training is more interesting and Eun-ho, is still bland, but I'm assuming his pure love is what remains in Jiny's memories after his death. In 13 and 14, Jiny and her rival squabble some more before the dance competition (not really a competition..can't think of the word right now). What happens?

In other news, I got a cute rotary kit for myself....muwha hahahahaa.
I like how Chiaki can goolegle search using an alternative spelling.

Nodame Cantabile 5! *spoilers* gives us a glimpse into Strezemann's past and his intentions for Chiaki and Nodame. With this, it's easier to figure out where the story is heading. Stresemann sees himself in Nodame and his lost love in Chiaki...talent-wise. Stresemann seems to have gotten a race-change somewhere along the way. Nodame's mongoose appearance was the highlight of this episode. Love the S-Ok performance and Chiaki's piece. That new character, the writer, looks interesting.
I swear everyone wants a piece of Chiaki.

Hwangjiny 11-12! The important part of these episodes is that Hwangjiny learns a new dance from the rival gisaeng troop leader. She hasn't danced since Eun-ho died (He told her he didn't want anyone else to see her dancing...*darn boy). The training and rivalry are interesting things to watch. Kim Jung Han, the guy with the collection of hats, is disappointingly boring in these particular episodes. He seems to stand around with a wide-eyed blank stare, BUT there's a cliff-hanger.

In other drama news, sis informs me that 'Heroes' was was was 13 episodes, but is now a full season...and the writer has said he has enough for 5 years. Boo, I'll get sick of it if they don't wrap it up in one season. Look at how moronic Smallville is now.
Can't really do informed reviews of Hwangjiny since I can't get some of the dialogue, but the basics I can handle. Anyway, this is turning out to be a great period drama.

Episode 9 marks the end of one chapter in Hwangjiny's life *spoilers* as Eun-ho, the young boy, dies as a result of his love for Hwangjiny. I can't say that his part in the story was very interesting, but it changes the way she views her life. I did enjoy her mother's cute part in this.

Aaaand episode 10 was definitely a jump in time. They all get an upgrade in clothes & makeup and Hwangjiny gets a more mature, manipulative & cold personality. We also get a few more hot guys. *more and more spoilers..but from the forum so possibly erroneous* Kim Jung-Han is supposedly a famous poet and has the longest relationship with Jiny. The bodyguard, Lee Saeng, is her last love. There is at least one more to show up in the series. Kim Jung-Han is a nice, refreshing character after Eun-ho. He was so cute scarfing down food while hanging out the the homeless people. In the episode there was much dialogue on the gisaeng and the arts...music in particular, that I didn't get. Some mean-looking guy doesn't like Korean music. The troop tries to convince him. Jiny verbally spars with him. Can't really say I like traditional Korean music (wailing cats come to mind), but that which accompanies it is very beautiful. Jiny gets incredibly nice hanboks and the hair accessories are so pretty. The colors in this drama are so rich. AAAAND Jung-han gets a cool hat!

Anyway, it's a shame the distribution of this drama isn't on d-addicts. It would make it more popular.

Haven't done a real review of this series yet, but Hwang jiny has some exceptionally loverly promo ads.

+ Beautiful setting, costumes, people
+ Interesting historical background
- Inclusion of the typical sad, korean love story
- Traditional Korean music and Kdrama music..eh.

I've watched episodes 1 & 2 and skimmed through to 8 (w/o subtitles, comprehended much of it..ya). This is about a talented gisaeng, Hwang Jiny, whose historical background is filled with stories of different loves; almost like a korean female Genji. She becomes known for her beauty, talent and intelligence. The drama is wonderful at depicting the lives of the gisaeng. Their various studies, punishments and their placement in society are interesting to watch. There are wonderful little historical details. Ha Ji Won portrays the lead character, Hwang Jiny, nicely. The character is kind and a little spunky. As for the plot, her first 'love' is a young boy/man (the actor is supposedly 8 years younger than Ji Won). The only flaw in the show is the typical Kdrama characteristic of the 'pining over love' which slows the story down. The young man obviously can't be with Hwangjiny since he comes from a higher class. His 'pining' kinda lasts a little too long. I'm looking forward to the next guy, Kim Jae Won, who was in My Love Patzzi. Boy, does that facial hair make him look older...in an attractive geezerly way. Looking forward to the other handsome actors that are also slated to play Jiny's love interests. Yeah for cute boyfriends.

The hanboks for the kdrama, Hwangjiny, look extremely pretty. (looks like it starts 10/11)
