Osen 2! is about miso. I'm not too fond of Yocchan, since the pretty boy actor that plays him tends to over-act, and his character is kinda whiny, but it is still an interesting show which tries to tie education and family values into an entertaining drama.

I also took a look at the manga from which the drama is loosely based. The manga depicts Osen a little more..well...voluptuously while the other characters got more cartoonish characterizations.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this series, although I've got a few others to get through before I start watching. Japan needs its own Daejanggeum!

Date: 2008-05-15 05:33 pm (UTC)I think Atsu-hime is Japan's Daejanggeum right now. I hear it airs on the west coast with english subtitles, and there are files floating around. The first episode didn't really grab me (might be too serious for my tastes), but Aoi is really cute.
