Time for a haircut
May. 29th, 2012 06:53 pmThis weekend was the unofficial start to summer. Blech hot weather, insects, reruns, half-naked strangers.
Thought winter was a slow time for anime, but it looks like slim pickings for this summer's season, too. Here's a quick list of the not-so-horrible-looking anime starting in July:
Natsuyuki Rendevous: Young man falls in love with a florist who has a spirit of her dead lover hanging around.
Sword Art Online: Big budget fantasy story whose characters look a bit boring.
Chouyaku Hyakunin Isshu: Uta Koi: The splash image is pretty.
Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita - headless chickens
La storia della Arcana Famiglia: Based on some sort of harem/action game. Again, splash image looks attractive.

Why can't I look away...
Apr. 28th, 2012 08:56 pm..they have ridiculous outfits, semi-silly choreography, and weird fluffy hair, but Shinee's Sherlock performances are strangely addictive.
"I love you...but why are you dressed like my grandmother...." (slight edit) - most apt comment there.
and the other item of note, I like FT Island's new j-pv, Stay.

So watching some random episode of WGM, and noticed that like using a variety of background music from 10-15-ish years ago. Judy and Mary's Jitensha was used a few times. It's such a good summer-y song.
Ao no Exorcist 6! Hilarious filler involving the brothers and their dorm cook. More please!
Tiger and Bunny 8! is about one of the side characters who spouts off Naruto-like lines. One of those learn-a-moral episodes, but entertaining.
X-men 7! Cyclops and Emma Frost flirt. Yes, it's as boring as it sounds.

The new Hagaren trailer looks mildly interesting. The new characters look like they are coming from another show.
Good Luck My Way would be an ok title if they inserted another word in there somewhere. And it sounds unsurprisingly like their other Hagaren songs. L'Arc En Ciel's 20th Anniversary song...makes me smile anyway. If only it meant that VAMPS was going away. Hyde has some interesting pants in the video. :)

Skimmed Lee Hong-ki in Muscle Girl. I don't think the drama is as funny as it tries to be, but I may watch a few episodes. The drama is about a young girl and her late father's debt-laden wrestling gym. She finds help in a kpop singer who is searching for his mother.

Apr. 20th, 2011 08:46 pmI was buried in work when this came out last month. Poor Jang Geun Suk, I think he was channeling cheesy 80's jpop when he chose his new Japanese single, Let Me Cry.
Skimmed Lee Hong-ki in Muscle Girl. I don't think the drama is as funny as it tries to be, but I may watch a few episodes. The drama is about a young girl and her late father's debt-laden wrestling gym. She finds help in a kpop singer who is searching for his mother.

Itzura na Kiss has been made into a kdrama which starts next week. I don't have much hope from it after seeing the extended preview. Kim Hyun-joong ('Rui' in Boys Before Flowers) is about 10 years too old to be in high school while Jung So-min (stalker sister in Bad Guy) is only about 5 years too old to be in high school. She lacks the special charm that a main character should have...though regarding their ages, I do realize the original manga flows up through their adulthood. I would hope that that is why they had cast those particular actors/actresses. From the preview, the comedy doesn't look too original. Are there any other new dramas to look forward to?
