Nabari no Ou 5! I guess episode 5 is synonymous with entertaining filler episodes. The story does progress as we learn that Raimei is basically a blond female Sasuke and she's after a pink-haired Itachi. The next episode looks like more boy-love will come into play. Oh wait, it seems this is a shounen series.

Amatsuki 4! Like Toki, puppets that talk creep me out. Toki shows off his new powers in this episode. Wish the directing and writing was a little better in this show. Transitions seem awkward.

Allison & Lillia 4! Months after the war ended, Wil goes on a school trip up north and entirely coincidentally, meets Allison and Benedict again. They get stuck in an isolated village whose residents don't seem to realize the war had ended.

Amatsuki 3! drawn back by Fukujun and a decent fansubber that is working on this. Because they beat up some rowdy samurai in the last episode, a slimy local authority-like figure gives Tokidoki (love that name) and gang an assignment as punishment. The other group of main characters appear..perhaps they are the bad guys. Looky, a lip-ring. Maybe it is because of Fukujun that Toki reminds me of a less-spastic Wataknuki...or maybe it's the eye and the ability to attract weird spirits. This still has mediocre animation, but there's a creepy atmosphere to the plot that is interesting. And it's only 13 episodes..yay for short stories.

And here's a tribute to Fukujun's magical eye resume...

Vampire Knight 2! Here comes the blind mice animation team who is given a budget of 3 frames per second. In this Valentine's episode, Yuuki chickens out at giving Kaname the chocolate, but Zero, being the angsty nice-guy, does it for her. The random comedy always looks out-of-place in this show. They would be better off sticking to the whole supposedly tragic vampire story instead. But really? Zero should get over himself and start biting the horse. And regarding the night class--is there a point to them going to school to read in the dark?

Amatsuki 2! kinda put me to sleep. Either I'm going to have to wait for subtitles or drop it completely. I'd like to get into the anime since the characters & scenario seem to be interesting, but the pace of the storytelling in the anime is plain bland. This is an example of a manga where I really like the mangaka's art, but the story just isn't told in an exciting manner and this unfortunate quality carries into the anime.

Nabari no Ou 2! Enter the indignant young female character, Raimei, who can't believe the hero's complacent attitude. I'm really starting to like Miharu. He seems very apathetic, but will move when he sees an opportunity..the devil's tail is nice, too. In this episode, the group travels to see the head honcho. The animation is consistent and the cute humor is fun enough for me.

..do we really need 5 fansub groups working on Chii's Sweet Home???

Amatsuki 1! Fukujun plays an apathetic, but polite high schooler who has a funny sounding name, Tokidoki Rikugo. Based on the manga by Shinobu Takayama, the anime attracted me because the manga art was pretty.

- The op/ed song and visuals are fitting, but bland songs with a mixture of traditional asian instrumentation thrown in.
- Studio Deen's trademark cheap animation carrys on.
- Attractive character designs are butchered most of the time.
+ Interesting scenario
- and uninteresting dialogue make me sorta sleepy.
+ Fukujun & Romi Paku...yay?

Quick summary ~ Toki puts on a pair of VR goggles to experience Edo, loses half his eyesight to a Nue/lion-beast-thing, meets some people and realizes his goggles broke a couple seconds back.

Quick opinion ~ I lost interest in the manga despite how pretty it looked and how interesting it sounded. I still have hope that the anime could do better, so I'll attempt a couple more episodes...well, at least to see some more pretty characters.

Macross F 1 again! Already popped in my two-cents before, but wanted to review it again especially since episode 1 contained some edits. Didn't mention this before, but the outer space fight felt very much like Star Wars right down to the bgm. The 3D and 2D mixed mechs are colorful flashy toys that are enjoyable to watch. From the opening, it looks like Sheryl and Ranka's connection will be something the anime will focus on. Even though they added that concert scene, I can't really picture a romantic connection with Alto and any female character....haha, since he looks so much like a girl much to his dismay. I thought the Zentradi were always an integral part of the Macross franchise, but I didn't see any Zentradi-like characters in the opening or episode...the enemy mechs were bug-shaped. Anyway, great stuff.
