Saw POTC3 over the holiday weekend. They really tied all aspects of the story together. This movie did have its minor flaws, but really, it was completely entertaining. ♥ Johnny Depp and his absurd acting.
..speaking of absurd acting, also wanted to catch up on this before the jdrama started...

HanaKimi twdrama 8-12!
Rui Xi(Mizuki) was an ugly girl-pretending-to-be-a-boy-pretending-to-be-a-girl during the dorm competition. Even though Rui Xi and Quan(Sano) aren't the most attractive coupling, their dopiness is cute. In episode 10, they play some odd form of leap frog in the middle of the hallway which was the most random act the writers though up to make Xui Yi(Nakatsu) jealous. Rui Xi's face when Quan almost kisses her again, is so funny. If a guy you like gets close, scrunching up your face isn't a normal reaction. Xiu Yi is also really funny. Wish the writers didn't try to make him so airheaded. Rui Xi's facial expression at his confession made me laugh. Really, she seems to twist her face at everything. Quan's tattoo is distracting...so is his cute smile...haha, but really, what is the tattoo of?..a big blob? These episodes cover the entrance of Julia...who seems a tad annoying, but speaks nice English.
In episode 11-12, the class goes to Quan's hometown and visits the hot springs. Of course Quan and Rui Xi end up in the bath together....the actors are so shy and that scene cracked me up. Quan is really too smiley to be a proper Sano, but he's amusing. This also covers Quan's angsty family story, but of course, that was just bad acting all around. Even worse acting was the daydream of Julia confronting Quan which made me hurt my cheeks from laughing at the screen.
Conclusively, I wouldn't recommend this to someone looking for 'great' asian drama. But if you are the sort that enjoys bad/dopey acting and bad/dopey comedy, this is fun. There's definitely a cultural difference in the presentation of comedy. I couldn't stand all the other twdramas I've attempted; Meteor Garden, Peach Girl. Maybe that's what their audiences think of as funny. The humor in their HanaKimi is its over-portrayal of the manga. The actors are cute, but don't quite contain the cool-ness of the original story, but I still want to see it through to the end, but I doubt I'll watch the second season.
