Skip Beat 25! the end. Ren is enlightened, but we don't really know what he'll do about anything since well, this is the last episode. Kyoko kinda wraps things up with a generic, 'I am looking forward to Ren's performance and I, too, feel like a new person' - kinda speech. It's been a cute ride. Kyoko's internal monologues set her apart from other shoujo heroines. Marina Inoue did a pretty awesome job at Kyoko. She also voices Kana from Minami-ke. Despite the old-fashioned look to the anime, it was entertaining and quite faithful to the manga. This episode ends right before Ren wows everyone with his acting skills. It's probably good they stopped there. It was pretty 'corn'y in the manga. ~8/10 rating~ for the series. I'd probably watch another season should they decide to make one.

Kuroshitsuji 22-23! The anime version of the Queen is rather bland. I thought it was Angela in disguise. Ciel and Sebastian travel to Paris to see why the Queen wants to start a war. She turns out to be ‘mental’ since the loss of her husband. And she gets tossed aside fairly quickly. For someone who rules a country and the Phantomhive family, what a waste of a character. Sebastian gets pissed after Ciel chooses to retreat after giving an order to kill the Queen. As freaky and grotesque as the anime can be, it makes no sense at times. Ash growing boobs?..propositioning Sebastian?...what was that?

Photobucket

Skip Beat 24! Ren mopes around with Bo since being kicked off the set. So the last episode will be the episode where Ren realizes he is in love? That seems pretty anti-climactic. I thought there was going to be 52 episodes, but I was wrong.
Photobucket

Minami-ke Okaeri 10! One of the funniest episodes yet. Fujioka's lap being the best seat in the household is a bit weird, but Natsuki's smile stole the show; such a creepy moment.

Skip Beat 23! Kyoko's interpretation of Mio is accepted. Ren now has trouble acting as Kazuki; y'know..finding his inner pedobear. For some reason the dramatic angst doesn't bother me in this series.

Kuroshitsuji 21! is about where Ciel's servants came from and how Sebastian recruited them. It was kinda cute...though not sure if it's canon.
Photobucket

Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou 10! Excellent episode. We get to see a little more of Reiko and how she met Shigeru (Touko's husband?). I thought Touko was a distant relative to Natsume, but apparently he is not related to either of them. The style of animation was a little different in this episode; sorta wigglier. I wonder if the mangaka ever wrote about what happened to Reiko; marriage and then got eaten by a youkai?

Photobucket

Skip Beat 22! Kyoko creates a new character out of an old one. Everyone is amazed.
Tengujin by Yumeka Sumomo or Sahara Mizu is another of her bittersweet, romantic stories. In a futuristic Japan where gods sorta rule, a boy, also a god, has to be married and eaten by another god. His twin brother wants to prevent it. It's actually a nice reincarnation story, too. It is/was originally printed in one of those unheard of magazines, so I'm sad Volume 2 is nowhere in sight. Aurora Publishing released it in the US. Their book is printed in Japan which might account for the smoother paper and ink. It's a nice, quick read with pretty artwork if anyone wants to try it out.

Photobucket
Skip Beat 21! Ren's manager's antics and comments are cute. Ren and Kyoko start filming the drama, Dark Moon.

Kuroshitsuji 20! Ciel was not the drug dealer...shock. The overall attention to visuals is decent though the cannonball scene was kinda silly. Lau is revealed as a bad guy and Aberlin is killed off. Sebastian gets slapped twice...oh noes.

Hetalia Axis Powers 5! Um, they (Germany, Italy and Japan) are very gay. I look forward to seeing America and the others.
Photobucket
Gundam 00 S2 20! Lyle turned out to be a lame version of Lockon. Neil was definitely the better twin. The animation was pretty sloppy at the beginning of this episode, but Setsuna's fairy dust once again does an awesome job of stripping the cast naked.

Photobucket
Skip Beat 20! Hey, new opening and ending songs and visuals...less jarringly bad than the first ones, but still blah. Kyoko and Ren are asked to be in the same drama. Kyoko thinks Ren hates her, but nah, he is just disturbed by his developing pedo-tendencies.

Cut for anime catch-up...Soul Eater, Kuroshit, Minami, Tales of the Abyss...*spoilers*The little girl kills off the other little girl?...WTF!!! )

Skip Beat 19! Amusing episode as Kyoko finishes the PV with Sho successfully. I didn't think Sho would be that important a character so soon, but it's nice that he's been made more human. The whole 'corn' flashback makes me laugh. Finished up the manga (up the the current chapter), and it's probably not a manga I would have wanted to read, but the anime's seiyuu have done well to bring the story to life.

Gundam 00 S2 19! 00's fairy dust makes everyone hallucinate. Saji tries to bring sanity back, but I think he fails. They are able to capture Revive, but Anew takes control of the bridge. Liu Mei appears to have blown up, and even though she's served no purpose at all in this series, I'm sure she survives to help the Gundams in some way. (Oh and the way Soma Peries' mech fits on top of Alleliua's Gundam? C'mon, pervy mech designers.)

Minami-ke Okaeri 7! a classic Mako-chan episode where the tanuki's tail is almost revealed. The mug story..too cute.

18's

Have no idea who the artists of this year's best record/album of the year are.

Anyway, VAMPS (hyde) has a new single coming out. I Gotta Kick Start Now is full of his lovely engrish. Seems like VAMPS was created just so he could rock at the club scene where everyone is too drunk to care what he sings.

Photobucket
Skip Beat 18! There's something totally the 80's about this show...probably that weird pop song and video concept in this episode makes me think the 80's. But enjoyed it nonetheless. Miyano Mamoru definitely is standing out as Sho now...great 'evil' voice there. The angel killing devil scene was funny.

Photobucket
Gundam 00 S2 18! So four months after the space elevator collapses, Lockon and Anew have hooked up; doesn't he know to beware of girls with glowing eyes? Setsuna seems to be playing matchmaker for Saji, too. Cute. Like everyone else, I am amused when each character calls out their beloveds/mostimportantperson at the end of the episode...Setsuna and Tiera's beloveds are cute. Despite the lapses in animation, it was a good episode. When is Tommy Heavenly's insert song, 'Unlimited Sky,' going to be released? I also like Yuna Ito's ending song, 'trust you' (ah, google---2/25 (Tommy Feb/Hev'n both have best-of albums) and 3/4 (Yun's single))

Photobucket

Ok, the evil clone became president of the Earth.
Photobucket

Sorta old news but here's the cast of the cdrama version of Hana Yori Dango/Boys Before Flower, ie. now called Meteor Shower. They don't look all too hot; probably because they look 5 years younger than their jp and kr counterparts.

Photobucket
And here're the main characters of the twdrama version of Skip Beat. Pretty cute.

Quickies

Feb. 2nd, 2009 10:35 pm
Hetalia Axis Powers 2! continuing off from last week's weird episode. Germany finds Italy in a box labeled tomatoes. I think Italians should probably try to get this banned from the internets. Kidding, it's way too silly stupid to take it that far.

Skip Beat 17! One of the charming things about this show is the sparklies and sparkly sounds that appear behind a character whenever they say a kind word. Kyoko finally gets a job where she is able to confront Shotaro.

Minami-ke Okaeri 5! the return of Mako-chan. The episode wasn't as funny as the previous, but the touch game at the end was amusing.

Kuroshitsuji 17! Ciel and Sebastion check out a couple ghosts in a castle.
Photobucket
Kuroshitsuji 15! This was a bizarre episode of Yakitate Japan. I don't think this anime can recover from the manga-what-manga turn it has taken.

Photobucket
Skip Beat 16! It's truu luba when the two main characters have nice thoughts about each other. Cute episode despite the sugar shock.

Minami-ke Okaeri 4! While the previous season featured the cross-dressing Makoto alot, Toma has a step-up in importance this season. It was cute when they had a photo that referred to the incident in the first season when Toma's brother, Natsuki, first visited. And we also get a new character, Hitomi, who thinks Natsuki likes her.
Oh Japan and your ball-jointed figures...the Obama doll. I hope it comes with the kotatsu.

Photobucket

Skip Beat 15! the SD moments make this worth watching. Ren gets sick and suggestively collapses on Kyoko...where have I seen this before?

Tales of the Abyss 16! Don't remember what the whole rush was, but more clones/replicas were revealed. It's a clone party. It looks like CLAMP is late in the whole clone-killing-self-off plot. This show's writers don't let you linger on any of the plot twists nor the mass old-geezer murders, but I suppose this anime is geared towards the game fans who probably know the ins and outs of the whole tale-of series.
Photobucket
Kuroshitsuji 7! Despite their every attempt to create a dark atmosphere, the nyan chanting was just plain odd. Ciel and all investigate a demon-dog-infested town. Do they ever show the Queen in the manga? I'd like to see who Ciel is working for.

Kurozuka 7! This isn't living up to the hype created by the first episode, and it is mostly because the declining animation quality. In this episode, Kurou remembers a time when Kuromitsu sliced his head off; ah~ good times. Poison Ivy makes a guest appearance.

Vampire Knight: Guilty 7! The other vampire anime...what's a little vampire story without some incestual overtones. Pretty good episode even though the ever-present cheap animation kills the mood sometimes.

Photobucket

Junjou Romantica S2 7! Haven't mentioned this before, but I enjoy the internal letters-to-nii-chan dialogue that Misaki engages in. It's makes him more interesting than your standard uke. And likewise, in the manga I like the Usagi's memories-of-Takahiro omakes. In this episode Misaki receives presents from his brother in Hokkaido, meets Usagi's father, and tries to confess his feelings to Usagi. There are times that Misaki is really adorable, and this is definitely an adorable episode. No onscreen smut, but warnings for two-seconds of finger-fellating.

Hakushaku to Yousei 6! How often do they mention the fact that Edgar has ash-mauve eyes? Ash-mauve? Sounds like a goth rock band. The plot is stumbling along, but kelpie/chick scene was cute.

Skip Beat 7! Hey, I hear that this is licensed. I never watch anime on Crunchyroll. Their video quality is pretty bad for those who just want to watch for free, and their website design is pretty toilet-worthy. But hey, I suppose progress is progress. In episode 7, Ruriko and Kyoko continue to compete in the film, but Kyoko's injury makes her pass out. Kyoko is an engaging go-girl-power type character, but the story and the supporting characters are unimaginative. Gonna drop this show for now.
Photobucket
Gundam 00 S2 7! Wait, wait, it's only episode 7 and they've married one of them off already. Wait, wait, they aren't all gay? What is this? Bring your girlfriend on-board season? There are a bunch of Tiera clones; some being girls? After revealing Alleluia's past, we get Tiera's. I suppose the pairing of Tiera x Tiera-clone would be a marriage that would be fun. I'm sure this episode alone will inspire fans to create crack on a new level. Last thoughts: Sergei is now a useless character. I hope the writers don't kill him off.

Photobucket
Junjou Romantica S2 6! The children are horrified to see Nowaki sleeping with another man...or something like that. For the couple that's been together the longest (out of the three couples on the show), the anime makes it seem like they have the most problems, and I suppose they do.

Photobucket
Skip Beat 6! Kyoko and Ruriko have a showdown to see which female will take the role in the movie. Ren has a tree-stump personality. I don't get the appeal.
Photobucket
Junjou Romantica S2 4! Egoist time. Nowaki and Hiro have an argument about something; possibly the use of Hiro's full first name. Argument ends with one of them pregnant them making out..oh, the poor manga fans get jilted again. Did I ignore the wonky character designs last season in favor of ogling the novelty of this show or are this season's animators becoming lazy. I hope the cabbage couple is in next week's episode.

Nodame Cantabile Paris-hen 4! Although Chiaki had his debut as the winner of the competition, the majority of the episode features huge leaps of progress in Chiaki and Nodame's relationship. I don't recall Nodame calling him, 'Shinichi,' before this. The last scene features them holding hands & walking into the Weird Forest. Excellent episode.

Skip Beat 3-4! This would make a great jdrama with the right actress. In episode 3, Kyoko doesn't make it to the 2nd stage of auditions in the LME agency, but the president considers hiring her if she shows up again which she does. The agency forms a 'Love Me' section just for her. I supposed they are training her to become likable person, so that she may debut.
Photobucket
Michiko to Hatchin 1! Sexy black woman and orphan girl...an anime that takes place in Mexico?

+ Sexy, stylish, high quality production and music

Quick summary ~ Little Orphan Annie/Hana is treated like crap by her foster family. One day right before the family decides to shoot her (so that her 'mother' doesn't find out how she's been treated), the 'mother' who seems to be Nicole from the Pussycat Dolls crashes in to take her away. They both have mysterious tattoos.

Quick impression ~ Great season for high quality anime, but then the mid-quality shows really look like crap. Anyway, this show has a laidback attitude kinda like Cowboy Bebop. It also has a mature chick with a gun. I'm sure it will be quite popular.

Photobucket

Skip Beat 1-2! Initially passed over this since the animation style looked old and cheap(similar to Kaikan Phrase), but it got some good reviews by the manga fans. I never read the manga, but I guess it was pretty popular way back when.

- Lacking in attractive character designs
- Bland production
+ Silly main character

Quick summary ~ A girl follows her friend's climb up to stardom only to find out that he is a jerk. She gets a makeover so that she can get into showbiz for revenge.

Quick impression ~ Seems like a standard shoujo anime, but it's silly enough to entertain. I was amused by the Harry Potter and the evil pudding poster. It was funny when Kyoko came onto the stage with a butcher's knife in episode 2. I might watch for the entertaining fluff, but I wish they put more $$ into the production.
