Hana-Kimi 2011 1! jdrama again. Alright, this version is loosely based on the manga like the first jdrama was. Ashiya Mizuki transfers into an all boys school to be with her object of admiration. This time around, Ohsaka high shool is a dump, but the dorms are actually the same dorms they used in the first drama. I guess one of the subplots will be to rebuild the school. The cast and story take the same approach that the first version took; overacting, and in-your-face jokes. I guess the main purpose of this drama is to introduce new, up and coming actors to a younger audience. I don't think I qualify as a part of that audience; I don't recognize a single actor this time around. Episode 1 was neither better nor worse than the first jdrama, but I don't think I'll be watching the rest of this. I'll only revisit Hana-Kimi again if they create an anime that is true to the manga.

There's going to be a new Hana-Kimi live-action jdrama starting this July with a new cast. It's only been 4 years since the previous drama. Let's hope Oscar is actually attractive this time around.
