So Saturday was when the typhoon hit/passed by and we braved the water falling from the sky to visit Mitaka (210 yen from Shinjuku, 15 min ride). There's a museum bus (300 yen round-trip) which is probably good for rainy days, but you can walk through the quaint town of Mitaka if you wish. The Ghibli museum is now one of my favorite places so far. I won't spoil anyone, but there are several rooms of pure Ghibli/Miyazaki loveliness. The roof was closed because of the rain and the catbus anime wasn't playing, but the film we did see was very adorable. It was the water insect story (no dialogue, easy to understand).

That afternoon we met [profile] bumpybear and her husband to go to Sunshine 60's Namja Town for gyoza, ice cream and desserts. It was an interesting experience overall. There was a Kuroshitsuji cosplay event going on, so we got to see many cross-dressing Ciels and various Sebastians; also a variety of other characters. Maybe my friends will become Sebastian fans. ;) There's also a Bookoff there...which reminds me that I should look up the publishing companies of the manga series for easier hunting. (Psst, Chii's Sweet Home is a Kodansha seinen title). Animate and Otome Road are in the area, too, but I forgot about them...

For Halloween, we went to the DisneySea theme park. Like the Ghibli Museum, I wouldn't mind visiting this park again (after purchasing a fastpass). I enjoyed the very Japanese theme park foods like lifesaver-float-shaped manjuu and white tea flavored popcorn. Mickey Mouse's teddy bear, Duffy, is a very popular item here. Everyone either had the plush in their arms or hanging from their bag. Btw, the Halloween decor was very elaborate and beautiful. (Random note: The direct Shinjuku-to-Disney bus does not take the Suica)

Later in the evening, we did a quick stop at Harajuku which wasn't as crazy as I thought it would be...for Halloween and for a weekend. The shops are filled with less expensive clothing which sort of remind me of Forever 21. Maybe it was my imagination, but the general crowd was younger than the crowds in the shopping areas of Shinjuku.
