Travel notes: Kyoto

I should put these posts on my personal blog rather than my fandom journal, but I can't remember my password, since I am not on my normal pc. Ah well.

I'm currently in Kyoto. The plane ride was uneventful and the food from United was just as bad as it was when I went to Korea 3 years ago (I'm glad we got ANA on the way back). The KIX to Kyoto travel was pretty easy. We got the JR Haruka Limited tickets for foreigners (show your passport & return flight printout) for 2,000 yen. We are staying at the Citadines which is a 10 minute walk from the Kyoto Station. It's a half a block from McD's and couple blocks from the main touristy road in the Karasuma area. It's a very new-ish and highly recommended place. 6+1+11+2=>20 hours travel time. Time to blackout before having fun tomorrow. (Oh and the exchange rate in the US was about 10% lower compared to what was offered in KIX.)

OMG! Kyoto! <3 I'm going there during December! You should totally write a trip report and share it here! Does this mean it's better to exchange currency in KIX instead of US? D: That's good to know...

And I can't believe you took United >_> That company got me stranded in Japan during my transit last year 'cause their toilet didn't pass Japanese regulations and my flight got canceled. Luckily they gave us a free night stay in one of the hotels near the airport and a plane ticket to US the next day. If not, I'll sue their ass till they bleed!

in terms of best exchange rate (depending on your atm fees). :) yep, kix had far better rates than the us.

i keep choosing united for the savings...more money for presents! but yeah, they generally suck as an airline.

december? awesome. bet you get to see the pretty xmas decor. right now, there's a few halloween things up and kyoto station has a huge xmas tree setup. :)

All right. I'll change some here just so I can pay for my hotel the day I arrive and the rest I'll do it in KIX. Thanks for the info!

I've learnt my lesson to not travel with United, no matter how cheap the flight ticket are. :D I'll be traveling with ANA all the way <3

Hopefully the decoration's up by then and it doesn't rain... I hate it when it rains during winter...

I'm so jealous btw. Kyoto's really pretty during autumn! You've got to snap as many pictures as you can and share! Ugh, why do I have class during fall!
