Letter Bee 14! The new opening & ending songs are forgettable, but it's kinda nice to see Angelo (formerly Pierrot) being active (their new song is used in the ending). The visuals are nice though. In this episode the Letter Bee doctor takes an interest in Steak, Niche and Lag. Lag thinks the doctor works in Hell's Kitchen..amusing. The next episode looks like a bland filler. I have a feeling they are postponing Niche's story until the end of the season even though the manga is sufficiently far enough ahead for them to avoid all..these...fillers.

Mouryou no Hako 9-13! ah ha, finally got to finish this plot&dialogue-driven anime which got more action-intensive in episode 9. It was slow-going for the characters' personalities, too, but once they got into the case, they finally started making more interesting facial expressions. It's a shame the main group of characters weren't featured in the beginning, since their group dynamic was a helluva lot more interesting than watching Detective Kiba stumble around in the beginning. Chuzenji, Sekiguchi, Enokizu were compelling characters to watch. The anime series seems to catch them in mid-series...(maybe I'll read The Summer of Ubume for a better introduction to them. Hoping that the rest of the books get published, too, but the only Natsuhiko Kyogoku book listed this year is Viz's license of Loups-Garous) ~9/10 rating~ for lovely animation, production and overall show. The mystery of the dismembered bodies in the boxes and 'mouryou' were intriguing to the end. This anime and the books need to get licensed.

I ♥ Mouryou no Hako. Reading the book after having seen the anime was interesting, though, since some of CLAMP's character designs are the exact opposite of how the characters are described in the book. But reading the book definitely helps make the characters' actions in the anime more deeply comprehensible.

There are somewhat recent live action movies for mouryou and ubume with Abe Hiroshi as Chuuzenji around the internet...but no subtitles as far as I can tell..and no pretty jpop boys in the movies either. I might hunt them down for Abe Hiroshi alone. :)

I really want to see that 2008 Gegege no Kitarou movie...I should see if it's downloadable anywhere.

Yup. I read a boatload of stuff about how awesome Mizuki Shigeru is/was (manga creator) after the movie had left theaters.
