Saw HP HBP over the weekend and it's probably the best movie out of all of them so far. It also continues to have the same problem as the rest of them, too; y'know, the cut-and-paste-oops-dropped dialogue. It seems that they spent most of the money of the visuals, and couldn't spend any on having the actors actually have enough lines to make the story transition from scene to scene. I suppose it is like those anime shows where it's simply made for the fans and to make new fans of the original work. Anyway, non-spoilery comments. Ginny came off as a bit creepy..like a vampire. Her relationship with Harry was never convincing in the book, and it's not convincing on-screen. It's probably the lack of dialogue again, and the fact that she isn't really pretty..her smile...kinda ugh. And to chime in with the rest of the net, there needed to be more Snape (x Harry). Just needed some more talking (flirting) in the bathroom or near the end. *spoilers* Harry and the cafe girl...haha, did they really have to beat the teenage hormone idea over our heads? The opening was so random..like they wanted to show us that he was going to have a quickie around the block before heading to school.

The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi 2009 6/16! Groundhog's Day Take 5...at least the writers are being true to the story. Procrastination rears its ugly head 15 thousand times.

Once read a really funny rant about how Harry should be with Hermione, but really, I don't see any Ginny and Harry chemistry. I think it's probably because 1. Ginny's personality is the blandest out of all of those created in the 'Potterverse' and 2. She looks too much like his mom...sorta or her own mom. It always kinda creeps me out when characters fall in love with their 'mother's twin' even in other shows. Anyway, I can understand the reasoning for him to fall in love with the most normal girl there. I'm a fan of Harry x Luna...and of course Harry x Snape...and even Harry x any male-Weasley.

I do wish they'd throw in more talking in the movies. It's not like JKR didn't write enough one-liners to simply explain the simplest of plot details. Snape needed like 2 lines; 5 seconds more. On the other hand, all the stuff they don't put in doesn't prevent me from watching the movies. The set and actors do capture the world well on-screen. Really loved the smoke-porn in HBP.

One of my favorite little moments was Dumbledore putting the house Slughorn crashed/trashed back to rights, and the look of wonder on Harry's face while he watched it being done.

I totally agree that a little more dialogue wouldn't hurt.

I like Ginny, but I think her character is definitely underdeveloped (the Harry/Ginny relationship covers whole encyclopedias compared to the thinness that is the books' take on Tonks/Lupin, though), particularly for a One True Love. Not sure if I could see Harry/Luna, though; they're too...filial in some bizarre ways, I guess, for me. Though if I found a fanfic that could sell it, I'd ship it.
