Some people mentioned interesting manga on their ljs, so I checked them out.

Sayonara Zetsubou(Sad) Sensei by Koji Kumeta was mentioned a few times. An anime is in the works and the promo picture looks cute. The premise of the story is even cuter. What's not to like? You have a teacher who is so depressed, he occasionally tries to commit suicide. He is even quite open with his pessimistic view on life with his students. Of course, since trying to commit suicide out in the open is a banging plea for help, help comes in the form of a cute, female, overly optimistic student. The manga has a very nice, crisp black & white drawing style and the character design is kinda, almost like early Furuba. The manga story didn't make me laugh aloud, but depending on who they cast, I'm sure the anime has much humor potential.

Emma by Kaoru Mori was something my sis watched the first time around and I said 'zzzzz' not Jane Austen...'zzzz' after the first couple episodes. She recced the manga and I said 'zzzz'. Then I eventually d/led a chapter and it was CUTE; it was the squirrel chapter. Then someone mentioned the second season of the anime and I saw the scary guy and was intrigued. Thus, zipping through all 7 volumes of the manga plus extra stories was my whole Wednesday evening and yes, drowsy was my Thursday. Anyway, it's a typical Cinderella-poor girl/maid meets rich boy/gentleman- story where they encounter family disapproval and rivals and all the other predictable circumstances, but it's well-told and charmingly written. The artwork didn't start out too outstanding; the mangaka used too many grey tones, but she progressed into wonderfully detailed and drawn panels. Hakim is ♥.

Shion no Ou by Katori Masaru is a manga quite not unlike Hikaru no Go. Shougi is the game of choice and a mute girl, the main character. Didn't quite think someone could write violence and tranvestites into a dull chess game, but they can. Shion's parents were killed by someone who played Shougi, so she plays to find him. This manga sorta focuses on that mystery along side of the game. It is drawn rather well as all the main characters are bishies and Shion a wide-eyed innocent, young girl. As with Hikago, there are great steam-out-the-ears intense facial expressions when they play. *pachi* It is as captivating as Hikago, but the whole murder plot seems a bit farfetched. It'll be interesting to see how that aspect resolves itself.
and one more manga dip

Ookiku Furikabutte by Asa Higuchi is a baseball manga which will be animated this spring. It's about a talented pitcher who has a weak/crybaby/whiny personality and the team he's just joined. The writing isn't especially comedic, but the style of drawing has a humorous cartoony sense. The anime promo pictures looked high quality which made me curious, but reading the manga wasn't too entertaining. Thus, me thinks me will watch the anime and not read anymore.
..many thx to the random people on my f-list for not always whining for pages and pages about their crappy lives...
The Romeo x Juliet homepage has the theme(?) song by Lena Park playing in the background. Sadly, she does not sing like Linkin Park.
