Even though The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi has all the ingredients of a crappy harem, high school anime, I find myself enjoying it immensely. The production and writing are pretty smart. Episode 3 jumps forward in time where all the members of the SOS brigade are established. The writers let the viewer figure things out themselves without all the filler-explanation-type episodes...which is great and lets the viewer enjoy the insanity without the inbetween time that explains the obvious. Kyon = ♥.

Also, I haven't mention Jyu-oh-sei yet.
Jyu-oh-sei 1!
+++ The seiyuu cast includes Oguri Shun (Rui from the Hanadan drama)!
+ Koichi Domoto, Romi Paku and a whole bunch of other great actors/singers/seiyuus are in it.
- Koichi Domoto sings the opening song which is an odd song for the visuals. Reminds me of the theme songs from the Orphen animes.
+ Yunna sings the ending theme which is pretty likable.
+ Escaflowne-sque style character design
+ grrrreat production by Bones as usual.
++ Heero spandex

quick summary: A pair of twin boys get thrown out of a space colony onto a harsh planet.
my opinion: This is a very promising anime storywise for those who love sci-fi fantasy stories such as the Vision of Escaflowne. That's it...plain great storytelling with a production that isn't going to let you down...and the seiyuu!!!!

Soooo I've decided my top picks/must-watch for spring are (in the order of greatness)
1. Ouran Koukou Host Club
2. Jyu-oh-sei
3. The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi
aaaand those to watch when I have time are
4. xxxHOLiC
5. Nana
6. Blood+ because stealing the whole plot from Anne Rice is darn cool

4 pairs of twins so far. so weird.
