the last love song on blah blah blah
Nov. 25th, 2005 10:34 pmthe saikano live-action movie has a trailer up. pretty cool trailer. the actress, aki maeda, looks a little too old for that role...but then i guess having a 12-14 year old in love scenes is a bit not-tempting in the live-action category. the anime was well-made, but not really what i watch. still, the movie looks nice.

Date: 2005-11-26 11:14 pm (UTC)Um. Stealing the book in the sense of downloading scanlations instead of English manga, and in the sense that the American publishers are stealing from both the mangaka and the mangaka's fans by perpetuating things like, oh, say... Lady Hisui. Both meanings intended humorously. I'm pretty sure Abbie Hoffman would never read or import manga, even if he weren't dead.
If you don't like it, you'd better come up with something yourself, because it took me three weeks to think of that.

Date: 2005-11-26 11:28 pm (UTC)i don't want it to be too confrontational..just informative enough that i can avoid certain publications...and so others can be aware of how horrible those publications are.
get back to me and i'll start the group later tonight and see if i can think of a good way to present it.

Generally, I don't look around at sites that are similar to ones I want to make -- I mean, I don't think the world needs another Rinoa Heartilly shrine, for example, but most fan sites and comms are run by incompetent morons with terrible taste. In almost every case, you, I, or my dog could do a better job, even with series and characters we're unfamiliar with. Don't let it get you down, Charlie Brown. I bet that between the two of us, we buy more manga than everyone in that other group. Or, indeed, any group.
There's a new "Asian" specialty store in Morgantown, and I got a whoooooole bunch of stuff there last week. So far, I've eaten some Thai candy which was so hot it burned my tongue, cleared my sinuses, and nearly rendered me unconscious, and now I'm eating instant shrimp-flavored udon. Not a barn-burner. Anime-character-style cuisine is apparently not all it's cracked up to be.
