Heroman, not a Naruto-killer

Heroman 1! As much as I appreciate Tetsuya for creating L'Arc~en~Ciel, that opening theme was the most generic song he's ever written. Quite bad actually...
+ Studio Bones makes another eye-pleasing series
+ Feminine boy ripe for slashing.
- I think they stole the opening scenes from Karate Kid
+ Takes place in the good old USA
+ Stan Lee makes a cameo
- Bland op/ed themes
- Generic story..though I suppose the USA x anime theme is crystal clear

Quick impression~ *spoilers* Joey Jones is your typical weakling who gets picked on at school by the rich kids. He likes a blond cheerleader whose jock brother is part of the group who picks on him. He finds a broken robot in the trash one day and fixes it up. Lightening strikes. It's alive. Lightening strikes again, causes an accident, and Joey with Heroman saves the day. Aliens are lurking in space. Not the most interesting story ever written, but it's shiny. Joey looks like a girl from Angelic Layer.
