one of these days i'd like to have lasik or do the crt therapy. too bad it is unlikely that either of them will completely correct my horrible vision. maybe if i wait long enough, another solution will come up. the crt is out of the question now, since my rx is too high and i do not live in canada and asia. i wonder if staring at the computer all day ruins my eyes...ha ha. possible will develop cataracts later.

me too -- i had thought a little of lasik, but eyesight is so horrible that i don't think it will do much good. except reduce prescription a bit so eyes do not look like tiny dots when seen through glasses. are there any weird long-term effects that people know of? that's another thing that makes me wary of the procedure; it's only been around for a little, and i haven't heard anything about the long run.

i know someone who got it done -- he had to wear funny goggles after the surgery, haha!

i could send you an email if you wanna know more. but there are 3 major things that could happen...but they are all fixable. and like cataract surgery, some ppl complain of more persistent dry eyes. nobody has ever gotten blind. but the worst that could happen, i guess, is that your rx will return to being bad. the statistics are pretty good. it has been around for quite a number of years. i guess the long term effect is that it will not prevent your eyes from changing when you hit 40-50's and will not correct the need for reading glasses or bifocals.
