went to the bank today. through the drive-thru to make a simple deposit. i liked how half a dozen people walked by the window, all smiled at me like i was in a wheelchair, but didn't help me.

went to the post office. people who are waiting in lines at the post office are the most disgruntled-looking people ever. people who work there sometimes look like the most arrogant...like they have some odd power over the customers. ps: i hope i signed that check. i always get paranoid about things like that.

have a list of books i'd like to get soon. normal books without pictures...mostly (alright half have no pictures). anyone have a suggestion on what else i should read? i like making a pile of unread books and then working my way down.

Nice Postal Workers in Boston

At this one post office in Boston (right in Kenmore Square), you'll find the absolute, hands-down, nicest, most helpful, and efficient postman I have ever met. He gives you all your choices so you know the prices for everything. At the one I go to out here, the lady only ever tells me the price for Priority. I have to specifically ask for the prices for each of the other methods of shipping. He asks you if you want stamps without making you feel like he's trying to upsell you ("would you like to super size that?"). And when you forget to fill out a form, he doesn't make you feel stupid and he lets you jump right back when you're done (without having to wait in line again). He sorta anounces it so that you don't have to be apologizing to the people still in line. I see people here having to do that all the time. Then again, you have to if the clerk doesn't cover you. There was a lady in Andover, MA who got into a brawl for getting into the express line at the grocery store even though she knew she had a couple more items than the limit. Someone noticed. I don't remember which person the newspapers vilified - the person going against the rules, or the intolerant people who made a big deal out of it. Yeah, I think maybe next time paragraphs would be nice.
