rented kill bill v.1. hm. i think quentin tarantino's appreciation for anime and said asian films is slightly warped. at least he didn't expect the audience to take the over-the-top violence seriously like the korean film, musa. *that* film had gushing blood that was a bit annoying. this movie had gushing blood that was funny..in a sick, bad-influence-for-children kind of way. i liked the funky music tho. the japanese was sometimes odd...like the person who was supposed to be really japanese was trying to sound like he wasn't. i guess that was purposeful. no hurry to see the next volume. will eventually rent it. hm...7/10. interesting, well-choreographed movie, but no interest in seeing it again. i'll stick with the original source, thanks.

I think he had an interesting premise. I liked the anime bit. The gore and fight scenes became entirely pointless after a while, though. In Resevoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, at least the violence supported the story-telling in some way. I thought it got a little boring and could've been tightened up. Vol. 2 has more story. I think it's actually pretty decent as a whole whereas I only liked Vol. 1 in parts. [I think that needed a comma in there somewhere, but I'm not sure where so I'll just leave it out. It's sad when the peak of one's grammatical prowess was in the 7th grade.] Vol. 2 incorporates a tribute to kung-fu flicks.
