New Anime - Part 2 - Kindergarten vs. High School

Kobato. 1! A very un-Mary Poppins comes down to earth to heal human hearts as that is her price to get someplace.

Quick impression~ Kobato is an okay manga series. It lacks the amount of cute that I think it should exude. Hopefully the anime production gives us a little more development. Madhouse's anime production could be more consistent as some scenes are nice while others, so 1980's. I was very amused at Fujimoto's Zorro-esque guitar background music.

Kimi ni Todoke 1! Another version of Nobuta wo Produce or Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge. An outcast tries to improve herself and falls for a popular boy.

+ Really lovely op/ed visuals and overall great production
+ Nice op/ed songs (Tomofumi Tanizawa who sounds like Suga Shikao's younger brother and Chara)
+ Sweet shoujo story
- Female lead already weepy in the first episode

Quick Impression~ This is pure high school shoujo. It's 'refreshing' to watch something like this especially when the production is top-notch. I can't remember how far I got in the manga, but all the characters are likable. Sawako and Kazehaya are a nice couple and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of this.

Cherry blossom comparisons...hehe. I'm annoyed that Production IG's production is actually better than Madhouse's. Why didn't CLAMP's xxxHolic get a nicer anime treatment.

...High school wins this round, but I'll end up watching both.

Kobato is cute--slightly moe, but cute. I am debating whether I care enough to download it at all, though (despite the fact that I have about 480GB of free space on my external drive), rather than just watching the streams, which says a lot about my level of engagement with the show.

Kobato hasn't reached the level of CCS cute and Ioryogi isn't as amusing as Kero-chan yet. It has potential, but they are competing against what they've already done. I'll still watch anyways. :)

Yes, I'll definitely watch too. I do think Ioryogi's voice is a tad too low, though. And why is their hair pink?
