Kids jmovie! is about a boy who can transfer other people's wounds(kizu) onto his own body. You'd think a movie with Tamaki Hiroshi (from Nodame Cantabile), Teppei Koike (from WaT) and Chiaki Kuriyama (from Kill Bill) would be pretty cool. Well, I started watching this a few months ago, but never had the attention span to finish it until now. It's unfavorably on the bland side. Teppei Koike plays Asato, the boy with the supernatural power to transfer wounds. Tamaki Hiroshi plays Takeo, the local punk. Chiaki Kurayama plays Shiho, the scarred cafe girl & Asato's love interest.
*spoilers* When Takeo befriends Asato, they both start to take advantage of Asato's powers. Let's blame their abusive parents on this. Asato has a masochistic personality that can't help wanting to help others at the expense of his own body. Takeo is all against this until he learns that Asato can transfer wounds from his body to others, SOOOOo Takeo gets Asato to transfer wounds to his comatose father's body. The pacing of the movie is slow and the script and/or acting is lacking. Tamaki just doesn't fit the type of character he is supposd to portray (not quite angry, tough or sad enough). Takeo and Asato's friendship was cute, but didn't convince me of anything significant. Shiho was probably there for star power, and so the movie didn't appear more 'gay' than it did. Asato's mother was more than enough to get to the climax. The final climactic scene wasn't too bad. I liked the artsy slow-motion pan shot. The acting made it more laughable than emotional, but eh, I think the movie was created more to bring fan-favorite actors together than to win an Oscar. Conclusion? Watch only if you are a die-hard fan of one of the three actors. ~6/10 rating~
