Saw an uninspired interview with the creator of Facebook last week and started wondering where the most popular online social network was or will be.

Facebook - connects "Real" people...as opposed to everyone here.
MySpace - too many photos of people showing skin...or flab.
Friendster - uncreative name, yes?
Vox - hyped for about 5 seconds.
Xanga - reminds me of Blogger and rhymes with manga..not.
Livejournal - home of rabid fangirls?
Yahoo 360 or Groups - ha, yeah right.
MSN groups - No. 1 in ugliness.
Bebo - no clue, but it kept popping up...looks like a copy-cat site with a clothing brand graphic as its logo.
Others?
Gaiaonline - RPGing with ugly graphics. Apparently FUNimation's marketing of Tsubasa was for gaia users to win virtual Tsubasa related goods...fun? eh, right.
Journalfen - where the wankers hang out.

Well, there is JournalFen for the rabid lj set. And wasn't xanga pretty big a while back? You can also add Greatest Journal to your list of has-beens.

Me, I've got accounts at several of those places but I rarely, if ever, use them.

Tried vox and yahoo 360 when they first appeared, but nobody hopped on board.

I have yet to be lured by facebook and myspace. I imagine that I would have liked those sites in high school.

lj has all the active anime, manga, drama communities in an easy to leech format. well, most of them...some are in independent forums.

I'm surprised LJ is only at #11..
it is the best place for pirated goods and stuff.

Facebook was awful, I deleted my account pretty quickly =P

lj is a great place to meet other fans and stay anonymous...and leech ♥.
i guess facebook and myspace are popular for meeting real people and friending famous people.
i like lj for entertainment purposes only. ^_________^

I've got a vox account mainly as a backup in the event of another Great LJ Blackout, but then again, I hardly post regularly anymore as it is. Main thing about vox for me is that, while it's a good idea, I don't necessarily want my email account, photo uploads, etc. immediately associated with AJK the blogger. I see no reason to become a volunteer demographic case study for online advertisers.

Agreed on facebook and myspace. I have no desire to join the Rupert Murdoch empire, and you nailed it with the high school deal--the level of intelligence on both sites seems perilously low. The only reason I could ever be convinced to join myspace is to keep track of my favorite group's tour schedules. Luckily, there are still enough other areas to find that information that I can get by without!
