zzz...still awake for Nodame Cantabile!
Jan. 12th, 2007 12:08 amNodame Cantabile 1! the anime this time! Although the animation by the J.C. Staff is excellent and the story stays faithful to the manga, the presentation and tone are slightly different from the drama.

+ Likable pop opening/ending songs by Suemitsu & the Suemith and Crystal Kay
+ Excellent animation similar in style and quality as seen in Hachikuro.
+ Great seiyuu (Seki Tomokazu as Chiaki and Kawasumi Ayako as Nodame)
+ Faithful to the manga
- but maybe too faithful and after the drama, maybe it seems that fans would want more than what was already seen?
Impression~ Highly recommended anime series, but the jdrama's first episode made a bigger and more lasting impression on me. The first episode introduces Chiaki as an arrogant, admired music student who is afraid of flying and wants to become a conductor. Noda Megumi finds him drunk outside her apartment and takes him in. Chiaki finds her piano playing interesting. The episode ends as the drama episode did which was them playing the Mozart duet together. The inital atmosphere and palette of the anime suggests that the intended audience may be a younger than the drama audience (maybe this will change later on). I'll try not to compare the two anymore, but overall, the comedic scenes were more surprising, effective and humorous through the live-action version. The anime is handled quite well and I hope it is able to bring its own type of humor to the forefront. Chibi-Chiaki was so cute.
