Kudo Shinichi's slow powers of deduction
Nov. 14th, 2006 03:44 pmKnK recently released the subbed version of the Detective Conan live-action drama special. The subs are ok. The translation doesn't really flow in a few spots...possibly because the translation needed a better editor The one and a half hour special covers the pre-Conan era in which Kudo Shinichi is a popular high-school age detective admired by the media and his fangirls. He gets a letter from 'Kidnapper' challenging him to save his fellow students from being kidnapped on a school trip. Oguri Shun as Shinichi is cute and I guess fits the character (I've only seen a handful of the anime), but the plot is as corny as the anime. He doesn't figure out the case until the audience figures it out and the actual boring motive is explained at the end. It's odd that the show completely disregards Ran's friend near the end. Anyway, it's mildly entertaining if you are a fan of Detective Conan or Oguri Shun. Oguri Shun seemed to have done a bunch of random one-shot dramas this year. I'll look forward to his role as Rui next year.
