After the clip was shown the title was revealed as "Romeo x Juliet". Release is set for 2007 with a format as yet to be determined. Attendees say the trailer was of high quality and the content was something along the lines of Chevalier. The title was shown only at the end, catching many offguard with the Romeo and Juliet connection. Confirmed staff include Director Fumitoshi Oisaki (Kaleido Star, Sgt. Frog) Series Composition by Reiko Yoshida (Kaleido Star, ARIA) and Producer: Dongyang Ikeda (Kaleido Star) ~ ans.com
Romeo and Juliet anime...I always thought the language of the play made it Shakespeare. I wonder how it'll translate into anime. Storywise, I wonder how they'll transform it. Could this be a newer trend into western literature? I guess anime has occasionally been made from random stories from the west, but it could be pretty exciting if big name companies started making high quality, mainstream anime out of them.
hmmm...here're a few anime that I can find made from western texts.
- Howl's Moving Castle
- The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
- Peter Pan
- The Little Mermaid
- Tom Sawyer
- Anne of Green Gables
- Call of the Wild
- Heidi
- Little Nemo
- Little Women
- The Little Prince
- Treasure Island
- Three Musketeers
....most of those are from way back. Saban's little mermaid...haha.
Anyway, I can definitely think of some books that I would love Madhouse or Bones animate...(^_^)
