another host club....of a sort and other episode ones

Princess Princess 1!
+ another gay opening song..but the visuals are FUNNY. Boys in goth dresses!!!! The ending song is also bland, but has lickable visuals.
+ It has somewhat decent animation.
- It gives off formulaic-episode kind of feeling.
- It's made up of standard characters that seem exactly like those in Sukisyo.
+ The manga is a decent read,
- and the manga is prettier...is supposedly a shoujo? manga. oops, someone at the manga database was wrong.

Quick summary: New cute boy enters an all boys school and becomes one of the school's princesses.
My opinion: From Ouran Host Club, Gakuen Heaven and Puripuri, Host Club and Puripuri are the most promising (did the anime companies send spies out?). Host Club has quality and humor going for it and Puripuri has an intriguing feeling.



Oh My Goddess Everyone has wings 1!
+++ Beautiful opening song (even with the bagpipes) and beautiful visuals create a great beginning. The ending like season one is a upbeat forgettable tune.
+ Continuing where season one left off, the anime continues to be the same good quality.
+ There seems to be more of a focus on Valhalla (?)..the goddess world.
- The sappiness may get to you.

Quick summary: Keiichi has a few goddesses living with him. Belldandy's continuing stay with him sometimes causes hardships.
My opinion: Since this series was one of the first I've seen/read, I have a soft spot for the sappiness. Plus, I think it sets the standard for female beauty in anime/manga.



xxxHOLiC 1!
+ Suga Shikao's 19 Sai is a great funky track. The visuals are pretty even though they are mostly panned shots. The ending is another laid-back funky tune with mokona.
- Varying animation quality (probably due to budget and that 1am timeslot which means it's not aimed for the larger crowd,
+ but the variations adds up to a wonderfully unique style in all aspects of setting, direction and design.
+ It tries to be faithful to the manga.

Quick summary: Watanuki is bothered by spirits. He meets Yuuko who lures him into being her errand boy in exchange for a solution to his spirit problem.
My opinion: It captures the manga pretty well. Cannot not watch.

...I survived the winter with only Mushishi, but now, how can I choose what to watch?

...and anyone notice that Jun Fukuyama is in EVERYTHING??? He's a great seiyuu in these new anime.
