Kurozuka 2! Recently finished the ten-volume manga despite the unattractive artwork, flying limbs, and random smut. It was hard to follow sometimes. The time jumps in the beginning were weird, but it was engaging once I figured out what was going on (much of it doesn't get revealed until the last couple volumes). It reminded me of Claymore due to the graphic nature of the story and the overall semi-sci-fi atmosphere. The first couple anime episodes make it seem like a samurai horror series, but the sci-fi should come in soon. The manga doesn't really focus on the vampire nature of the vampires, but rather how certain people become obsessed over time and how that obsession make them do extreme things. The origin part of the story was familiar, but I can't really place it. I suppose it is a blend of folklore and religion. The actual end of the manga is open-ended, but not bad. I don't think I really liked the manga as a whole nor do I recommend it, but it was vastly different from what I usually read and thus, interesting.
With the art changes and edits that Madhouse brought to the anime, I think the anime should be worth following. Plus, it's only 12-13? episodes. Since finishing the manga and watching the first two episodes, these episodes are quite important to figuring out what happens, but really? I don't think the viewer is supposed to understand right now. There were too many scene/time changes to really begin to put things together. In episode two Kurou and Kuromitsu were going through the process of turning Kurou into a vampire. Some ugly old guy and his goons come after him. Kurou's servant helps, but in turn, Kurou's head comes flying off. Madhouse has a liking to dismembered heads that talk this season.

Soul Eater 28! Bringing in the adult deathscythes refreshes the show after all this time, but the kids are never far behind. Sid, Azusa and the nurse whose name I didn't catch investigate a research facility belonging to Arachne. Black Star randomly shows up to fight Mifune,

Yozakura Quartet 2! We learn a little more about Akina in this episode. He's the only human in the quartet(actually quintet, but they don't count the hot secretary orge for some reason), and is responsible for 'tuning' or sending out-of-control youkai to the other world. Still not totally sold on this series, but it's cute. I think it is missing that extra humor that the manga might contain.
