Valkyria Chronicles 1! Is it my screen or does this show have some sort of Photoshop texture filter thing over it?

+ Decent production.
- Ho-hum story
+ Marina Inoue (Kana from Minami-ke, Kyoko from Skip Beat) voices the main heroine.

Quick impression~ There is a war over some energy source in a pseudo-historical-European setting. Alicia who is a headstrong girl meets a artsy, spacecase guy, Welkin, whom she mistakens for a spy. A neighboring country comes to invade. This is sorta like Allison & Lillia or an RPG show. The character design is nice, but the characters' personalities don't stand out. Well, Welkin is kinda likable, but I don't think I'll be watching more though.

I haven't watched it yet but I belive they used the same texture they used in the game it's based on.

It's just a subtle visual thing that isn't too apparent, but just a 'hey, what's that'. The more I think about it, I did like the design of the show. RPG games have some nice character and costume designs.

Having now watched the episode it is indeed te same look that the characters have in the game. The game itself used a new engine which made everything look like it was painted/hand drawn even though it wasn't it really is beautful to look at.
