Haven't been too enthused about dramas this season. They've felt more time-consuming than entertaining. My interest in 'Who Are You?' kinda died even though I will eventually finish it. I hear the end was satisfying. Anyway, here's a brand new drama from Lee Jun-ki...*sparkley* He looks like Alto from Macross F in that promo pic.*sweet*

Iljimae 1-2! kdrama. A historical drama based on a manwha which sounds like a Robin Hood story. (Also sounds somewhat like Hong Gil Dong.)

The characters~ Iljimae: the Korean Ironman/Robin Hood-like figure motivated by the loss of his father and memory, Yong: Ilimae's daytime appearance which is basically a bum, Bong Soon: love interest uno who is the poor girl, Eun Chan: love interest deux who is a part of the upperclass, other boy whose name I missed: spoiled rich guy who gets in the way of loooove.
The story~ Robin Hood takes from the rich and leaves a blossoming branch from a plum tree as a calling card. He seeks revenge...arrrgh...and love...arrrgh.

Quick impression~ Lee Jun-ki..slimmed down with longer hair aaand a ninja-esque-Ironman outfit? *drool on keyboard* Cheeseball action and stunts give us a lovely intro. Sadly, the story isn't too original once you know the players...poor boy, rich girl, poor girl, rich boy...blah blah...corrupt authority figures...pitiful past. I barely made it through the first two episodes which is mostly a flashback to a clever little boy and his kind father terribly wronged by those in a higher class. Yes, angst, death and sad children galore. But it was worth it to see the silliness at the end of episode 2 when Iljimae/Yung is all grown up...with a lovely set of pearly whites. The comedy was dorky enough to be likable, but not sure if it was great enough for an audience without fangirls to wade through all of that overly dramatic set-up. Historical dramas never sit well with me unless there is an excess of visual pretties as in Hwanjiny, but Lee Junki could be pretty enough to see if this show gets any better.

Here's an interview with him on a k-tv show, Chocolate. It's so wrong of him to look so adorable with that curly hair. He also sings during that show, but you'll have to search for that clip if you want to see it. There's also rumors of him having to enlist soon. Poor guy, I don't think he'll be as hot with a buzzcut.
Is it too early to think about summer asian dramas?
Shibatora with Koike Teppei.
Maou with Ikuta Toma and Ohno Satoshi.
Gourmet finally gets a time slot in June.
There's another version of Iljimae slotted for the summer...odd.
Beethoven Virus which sounds like the Korean version of Nodame Cantabile...without actually completely copying the story.

And completely forgot about the Antique k-movie which is in theaters now or really soon. The CM features a really hot cast...and they left more of the gay in! wahoo...photoshoot with shirtless men! No word on the Hana Yori Dango kdrama yet, but I'll keep looking for the cast announcements.
